you've got deputies that are absolutely hardcore, executing the vendetta vendetta, driving vehicles and carrying guns. it's a perfect storm of hell. >> reporter: willy jessop testified in the discrimination trial earlier this year and later this month when justice department lawyers returned to phoenix armed with their guilty verdict, they will ask federal judge russell hollando an extraordinary remedy: decertifying and disbanding the entire 7-member marshal's office. >> i know there's a lot of people that just can't bear to be arrested and intimidated anymore. >> we don't deny the jury's verdict. it is what it is. the question for us now is what do we do about it? >> reporter: jeff is colorado city's defense attorney, and he says the government continues to

does not like. noting in cases of police misconduct like baltimore and ferguson, never have the feds asked that a local law enforcement agency be completely disbanded. >> you line up other the other police departments and look at colorado city and think what's different? what's different about colorado city? why are they treating this department differently? there's only one difference that comes to mind and that's their religion. >> if the marshal's office is disbanded, the sheriffs in washington county utah and mohave county arizona are expected to step in and provide law enforcement for the community. again, this hearing is slated for later this month, and we will of course let you know how it plays out. some of you might have your november ballot already. and there's a big question this year: should recreational marijuana become legal in arizona?
